Dramatic Inside Outside Remodel Angle Lake

Layout changes and new windows make the most of light and views [more]

This dated house is ideally located on a lake and a promontory overlooking the Cascades and Mt. Rainier. Fireplaces block lake views on both floors and the low ceilings and numerous walls made this a dark crackerbox.

Space planning dramatically opened up the main floor and light giving dormers liberated the ceilings from their short stature and compressed feeling. The daughter was freed from the basement concrete bunker bedroom to a light filled bedroom on the main floor, and a commodious master suite and en suite guest bedroom were nicely tucked into the daylight basement facing the lake.

A remodel to the accessory structure updated the apartment above, made the garage usable, and tied it to the design of the new house.
